Borough of Barnsley Swimmer Club (BOBSC) Chloe Etheridge has recently completed a Swim England Young Leaders training Course and has qualified as the youngest official in recent times at the swimming club. Chloe, who has been swimming since the age of 2 said
“Back in October 2022 Swim England North East, offered an opportunity for Young Leaders, to be part of competition officiating training, education and development opportunity. I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn a new skill and support the swimming community in other ways” Having now qualified as official Timekeeper she is taking part as an official at the upcoming Yorkshire Championships on Sunday the 5th February. She is also hoping to gain officiating experience in stroke judging and turns with a longer term view to complete further technical officiating and swim coaching. She is hoping that the success in and out of the pool will further support her GCSE PE course which she is currently completing Club Spokesman Adrian Wightman said “Chloe has showed a real desire to give back to the swimming community. To undertake the course and take time out of her busy life is a real sacrifice and a great testament to her character. We hope that she takes her officiating to the highest level. Who knows we may even see her referring at national and international events….” The Young Leaders course provided:
