With coach Greg Lugton at the helm along with a number of team managers the 46 swimmers won a total of 32 gold medals, 35 silver medals and 39 bronze with a total number of 15 “too fast” medals.

Club Spokesman Adrian Wightman said “The swimmers were very excited to be back at Scarborough for this great event, the last time being 2019. The number of lifetime bests and medals is testament to the grit and determination that our swimmers  both train and compete with.”

The event, run over 3 days, had a party atmosphere with swimmers (and parents) taking part in dancing and jovial behaviour during the event. The list of medal winners is below.

The following swimmers missed out on medals but managed lifetime bests Evie Blessed, Callum Cadman, Davieleigh Farmery, Alice O’Keefe, Lily O’Brien , Jeannie Roberts, Ruby Severn and Naomi Wakeling.

The club took 9 swimmers who qualified for the stringent entry times.  Women’s Club Captain Leni Valentine Bull secured 3 final positions in her favoured Breaststroke in the 50m, 100m and 200m.  she won a bronze in the 200m and a silver in the 100m and narrowly missed out on bronze in the 50m breaststroke.

Meanwhile Dan Menzer, Blaine Underwood and Cody Ingram secured final places with Daniel coming 6th in the 800m freestyle, and Blaine taking 8th place in the 50m fly.  Cody, like Leni, secured 3 finals for the 50m, 100m and 200m in Butterfly achieving  8th in the 200m and 9th in the 50m and 100m

Other swimmers representing Barnsley were Millie Northrop, Georgia Lee and Ella Minogue, Roman Wallace and men’s club captain Noah Wragg

Press Officer for the club Adrian Wightman said “Despite the qualifying entry times being very fast the 9 swimmers from the club put their all into their swims.  It was great to see BOBSC bring some silverware back to Barnsley as well courtesy of Leni.  We hope that our younger swimmers will continue to be encouraged by the grit and determination shown by these  (9) swimmers.”
