We are very pleased to announce we have a swimmer selected for Phase two of the Swim England National Development Programme! Oliver Austin who trains with our A Squad, will be one of three hundred swimmers selected for phase two of Swim England’s National Development Programme which are set to train at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games venue, the first face to face camp to take place since 2019. The 13 to 14 years olds will take part in two long course pool sessions and split into 6 zonal teams – one in the Commonwealth Games 10-lane competition pool and the other in the six-lane training facility at Sandwell. The camp will concentrate on stroke and turn skill development as well as working on land training activities. The selection process was pretty tough with only 25 male and 25 female swimmers being picked per zone, from their long course times achieved and recorded on the Swim England database between 12 April and 5 December 2021 considered as part of the selection process. The highest-ranked swimmer has been chosen in each Olympic event and further selections have been made from the second and third ranked positions until the maximum numbers per camp were achieved. This is a fantastic achievement for Oliver and we wish him all the very best on camp! Congratulations Oliver! Kind Regards, Carly Herbert Head Coach Your Swim Academy Performance Squads Borough of Barnsley Swimming Club The Annual British Championships took place between the 5th and 10th of April at Ponds Forge, Sheffield returning after a 3 year break.
