Borough of Barnsley brought home a total of 68 medals from Rotherham metro’s January A&B graded meet at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge Arena at the weekend. Olivia Byrne celebrated a 9 medal haul, Charlotte Greaves and Freddie Cook-South took 7, Louis Ennis totalled 6, Alexander Matze 5, with Dimosthenis Magoulas, Esme Hays, Harry Austin and Ruby Severn all securing 3, Alyssa Warren, Joshua Guy and Sophie Greaves claiming 2 and 1 medal to Adam Gill, Alex Tiggardine, Bethan Thomas, Emilie Todd, Jared Almond, Keaton Hall, Lily O’Brien, Purdy Roberts, Sam Guettat and Samuel Wathen. Competing at their first major event was Sophie Siddons and Isabell Cumberbatch Other swimmers representing the club were Autumn Davis, Francesca Hadfield, Grace Ford, Joshua Nortcliffe, Kacey Reade, Rebekah Jones, Sebastian Matze, Keira Tiggardine, Lacey Richardson, Maisie Porter, Mia Howarth, Holly Severn, Callum Cadman and Lucy Wightman, Club Spokesman Adrian Wightman said “it’s great to see over 40 of our swimmers attend the gala and do so well. Despite this being in early in the 50m (long course) season, the medal haul and number of personal bests is testament to our swimmers determination and also enjoyment of their sport. We hope to build on the success of this gala in the upcoming Yorkshire Championships as well as our other race meets. As ever on behalf of all swimmers thanks go to the YourSpace coaching staff and Team Managers for enabling the swimmers to compete at the meet.”
