Borough of Barnsley swimmers were in action again at the weekend at Rotherham Metro’s A&B Long Course (50m) meet, the last competition Borough were competing in prior to the Yorkshire Counties meet in February. A total of 45 swimmers took part in the gala with A2 squad Coach Joanne Archer at the helm along with 2022 club captain Noah Wragg. In the A grade category a total of 3 golds, 4 silvers and 7 bronzes were won with 8 gold, 11 silvers and 6 bronzes in the B grade category. Club Press Officer Adrian Wightman said “Once again our swimmers have excelled with many of the 45 swimmers obtaining personal best times as well as breaking their medal drought. Barnsley take 44 medals from Leeds’ Home Meet Fresh from their winter break the Borough of Barnsley Swimming Club took part at the City of Leeds New Year Meet at Leeds at the weekend. Borough secured a total of 14 golds, 21 silvers and 9 bronze medals over the weekend, a medal tally that represented the grit and determination shown by the squad.
